Cintiq 13HD for Christmas! (Animation)

(Let image load, or just click on it to speed up the process)Anim Face test (small) 2This is a project I decided to do to get a little more comfortable with my new Wacom Cintiq 13HD, which I was fortunate enough to receive from my grandparents for Christmas (THANK YOU!!!) I really enjoy the ability to draw on a surface. It significantly naturalizes my drawing style when doing digital work, letting me stay loose for sketches and precise for inking and other tasks. Not to mention the admantages of having two screens. I’m really thankful.

This animation took me all day of straight working, and was done solely in Sketchbook Pro. Here is the animation timing and layout sketch I did using the flip book feature.face animation layout

The finished was not as smooth, unfortunately. I have a lot to learn about animation. But I do love it when the pen goes in his mouth, Looks better than I imagined.

Here’s the face concept sketch.

Special thanks to all my family and friends who allow me to do all this stuff through buying me equipment and encouragement. I can’t say how much I appreciate you guys.

As many of you have noted, it has been a while since I have last posted. The reason for this is that I have been receiving a constant stream of jobs lately, and don’t really have the time and energy to dedicate to a decent post. I would post some of my jobs, but the content attached to some of them may not be ready to be released upon the works finish. However, I have been doing a lot of random sketches and such in my sketch books lately, with a good ‘ol pencil and paper. Nothing good enough for me to comfortably post though. I’m basically saying that I have not forgotten, and there is much I will be posting in the  future.

Now, excuse me while I get sick on corn chips.

Jumping Monkey

Landscape commission

Hey guys! I haven’t posted in a while (all summer), mostly because of the commissions I’ve been doing. Here’s one of the larger ones I did recently. It’s a piece for an artist’s website. He creates a lot of cool dubstep music and has commissioned me to do all his song covers and website illustrations.

The top picture is the original color, and the on the bottom is with some adjustments the hue, saturation, contrast, color, etc.

Later today I might post some pictures I took at Block Island earlier this summer. And, also, in the coming weeks look out for an animation I was commissioned to do for a Minecraft server. It’s the largest project I’ve ever done and it’s turning out to look pretty good. Here’s the website of the server (They have a REALLY nice website!): http://warcraft.gg

Jumping Monkey Characters (Including official mascot!)

Hey! I’m currently on vacation and have been working on a few characters, which is a lot easier now that I’m taking a break from doing freelance work. Any way, here they are:

IM final Pic

So, I first had the idea of making a Jumping Monkey mascot, which is the stylized looking monkey guy in the sliding pose. He was a relatively easy drawing actually, but, regardless, I really like how it turned out. The second character I made, is the “realistic” cartoon monkey. Not as fun, but the result wasn’t too bad in my opinion either. However, I will admit he may have been a little rushed. The third is a character of me in Interstellar Marines (A sci-fi fps game) armor. I have recently joined a clan (Pro Marine Core), and will be playing in the IM tournament soon, so I thought it would be a cool piece to have since I’m going to be a part of the community and such. This drawing took three days of on and off work to complete, and I really like the result. Also, look below for a Jumping Monkey character desktop background I put together. Including my Minecraft character.JM Wallpaper-01

I recently made a new Minecraft skin, and figured since Iv’e been doing a lot of avatars lately, I would make my own, for personal and example purposes.

Day 77- Wanderers

Wanderers

Well, I had this idea, but I also wanted to do one of the prompts that was voted on. I ended up just drawing my idea and naming it similarly to the prompt. I’m still working on my techniques, but I’m getting there.

I’m not going to post a poll today, there aren’t really enough votes anymore, and I would rather just drawing whatever comes into my head.

Day 76- Sasquatch (Speed Painting Time-Lapse)

Prompt: A Sasquatch sighting in an unusual location

Iv’e been watching and studying speed painting for a couple days now and decided to give it a go. So, I spent most of the day making brushes, then recorded the painting. I’m semi-happy with the results. I definitely need more practice, and I plan on doing much more in the future. As for the time, it really wasn’t much of a speed painting. I was planning on doing half an hour at max, but it took me a little over an hour instead.

Day 75- Rescue at last

Out of control

I haven’t posted for like a week now. The last poll was “Thank goodness they finally sent someone. Things are getting out of control!”. And I had no idea what I would do. So, this morning I just sat down a started sketching. This is what I ended up with. I added the 2 streak lens flares to give the picture more of a sci fi look.
