Was just looking through my Blender for Dummies book today and came across the “Particles” section. Iv’e never used particles before, so I decided to give it a try. This is what I ended up with.
The footage in the bottom right corner is what it all looks like when it’s not rendered.
I was messing around with blender and found I could give meshes a cool “halo” material, which makes particles that you can adjust and tweak. I made a sphere mesh and applied a halo material onto it, added a seed to the particles to randomize their appearance, and set the camera so that a bunch of the particles overlap to make it look like a bright light. Since I was experimenting with my Jumping Monkey character, I decided to use him and put a little motion blur on him to make it look like he is jumping out of the light.
